18TH CENTURY, REGENCE PERIOD, ORMOLU-MOUNTED, BOULLE MARQUETRY BRACKET CLOCK. SIGNED. 'J GODDE LAISNE ' CIRCA. 1715.
The circular ormolu dial with individual white enamel Roman cartouche chapters, original cut steel hands, signed 'J GODDE LAISNE' on an enamel plaque below, the movement with rectangular plates joined by six vase-shaped back-pinned pillars, with two barrels and verge escapement with silk suspension, with calibrated countwheels, the back plate signed 'J GODDE LAISNE', the door with apollo mask, emblematic of the sun king, within a bell-shaped case with trellis and foliate trailing inlay, to the top with a patera cabochon of Alexander the Great surmounted with the figure de l'enfant hercules and with trellis and foliate ormolu to the hipped angles, on C-scroll feet.
