A 19TH CENTURY LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED, KINGWOOD AND BOIS SATINE, MARQUETRY BUREAU A GRADIN. ATTRIBUTED TO THEODORE MILLET. CIRCA 1880.
This fabulous and rare Louis XV style bureau à gradin, upper structure of kidney-shape form surmounted an elegant white enamel dial clock, above four small drawers flanking an open compartment, each curved side with a scrolling acanthus issuing two-lights candelabra en girandoles,
The desk decorated on all sides with magnificent kingwood and satinwood marquetry, gilt tooled brown leather writing surface above three frieze drawers flanked to the sides by a scrolling acanthus clasp surmounted by a head, the curved sides and back centred by a pierced acanthus and foliate mount, the whole standing on cabriole legs terminating in exquisite sabots.
