SCHILER (Jean Martin SCHÜLER ) reçu Maître le 27 Juin 1781

Originating from near Leipzig,  Jean-Martin SCHILER  like many of his contemporaries married  in the  Embassy of Sweden, chapel, in Paris. SCHILER established himself  ébéniste at rue Saint-Nicholas and at rue Faubourg-Saint-Antoine in 1778. Despite the late date of his accession to the Master  ébéniste   (Maître June 27, 1781 ) his stamp appears throughout the Transition period of Louis XV and Louis XVI, including a commode with a marquetry inlaid landscape of elegantly stylised details. SCHILER created many pieces of furniture during the Louis XV period,  but his main Production of  the Parisian apartments was styled in Louis XVI period, with mostly mahogany furniture with well-balanced lines: commodes, secretaries, bonne-du-jour.  A sale in Paris, March 14, 1955, saw the sale of a  gaming table, a transformation forming backgammon, writing table and dressing table, by Jean-Martin SCHILER, collection of an antique dealer in Lausanne. A rare extension dinning table  by Jean-Martin SCHILER, is today in the collection at Fontainebleau.
