The biography of Nogaret

Pierre Nogaret was born in Paris in 1718 and will remain the undisputed master menuisier of seating furniture in Lyon during the reign of Louis XV.  His biography is based records from the church of Lyon. All other documents were destroyed in 1871, after the fire perpetrated by the Commune, the archives of the Paris City Hall. However, we believe that after an apprenticeship in Paris, probably by a Master menuisier  he left the capital in 1743, and moved to Lyon where he continued his training under the master menuisier of Lyon, François Girard, established Petite rue Saint Romain. In 1744 he married Anne some Muguet, a native of Roanne, and received his master's letters in Lyon in 1745. He was elected maître-grade ( master of the Lyon guild of menuisiers ), carpenters with Mathieu Lerbet that on February 9, 1771. He died on August 23 of the same year and was buried in the "cave of St. Roch ". At his death, his children continued under the tutelage of Master menuisier tienne Vanderheyden. In 1772, his wife sold his workshop to Master menuisier Nicolas Parmantier who continued production by affixing his stamp on some of his unfinished works.

The work of Nogaret, entire Louis XV style, is considerable.  Armchairs, chairs, sofas are perfect, balanced and elegant. Their furnishings, impeccable quality and are recognize at a glance.
